End of the World – Coming Soon to a Planet Near You…

As you may have heard, the end of the world is scheduled for December 21. This could be the Godsend your were looking for. Let me explain…

It is truly a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for unique promotions for your business.

Here are some examples from my friend and fellow copywriter Mark Mehling, revealed in this week’s GKIC Diamond Member Fax from Dan Kennedy…

“End Of The World All Night Bowling/Roller Skating/etc. – ‘cuz you don’t have to get up tomorrow.”

For cleaners: “Get Your Suit Cleaned And Pressed – You Want To Look Good For The End Of The World.”

For Sleep Number Beds: “The End Of The World Could Be A Tough Night – Better Get A Good Night’s Sleep On December 20.”

And my addition, for lenders of all stripes… “Borrow to hilt, nobody around to collect after December 21…”

Since – assuming you are on board with the Mayans – time is rapidly running out, let’s continue our recent conversations on time management.

What follows is a technique that will not only save you countless wasted hours, it will vault you to a whole new level of productivity. You don’t need to believe this statement, just test and see if you disagree.

Human beings are wired to work with each other, in teams, dyads and larger groupings. Synergy – the effect that 1 + 1 = much more than 2 – happens when people act in tandem, on the same wavelength. The power in this is almost unimaginable.

Countless examples bear this out, from landing on the moon to the songwriting of Lennon and McCartney, and on and on throughout history, and extending into the future… (At least for another 30 days anyway)

But how many times you sat in on a meeting where you were there physically, but in reality thousands of miles away?

Here’s how to counter that problem.

Take 15 minutes before any meeting with another person or group, and answer three simple questions (Actually, there are more*, but you can start with three):

  1. What is the purpose of this meeting? Why am I doing this? What am I seeking to accomplish?
  2. What difference will it make? What is the importance?
  3. How do I measure success? What yardstick, either measurement or event will I use to determine success or failure?

I think you will be astonished at how effective this simple exercise can be. The stress relief alone is worth it.

Think about it – ever walk out of a meeting wondering what just happened? In the back of your mind, there’s a vague, gnawing sense that as Bob Dylan put it, “There’s something happening, but you don’t know what it is…”

We love measuring things – ever check a baseball pro or football team’s stats? Ever tried to cook something for the first time without a recipe?

Simply getting clear about what the outcome of a meeting is supposed to look like, then comparing actual with intended performance at the very least gives you a wonderful sense of resolution.

But that’s minor league compared to what happens when two or more people enter a meeting with clear intention. When you’re working together on the same wavelength, look out world…

Short as your time may be – 30 days and counting…
