It’s incredibly liberating to know you don’t have to do it all yourself.
Do you have enough day left over at the end of your to-do list?
If not, maybe you’re thinking of yourself as a producer, not as an owner. Big difference, right?
Especially if you are really good at what you do, you have a really hard time letting someone else take over without grinding your teeth.
And, no doubt, taking the time, quality time, to deeply communicate with someone so you can pass stewardship over to them is a big investment.
Example for me is, I love writing, reading, listening to great sales copy. And sometimes I feel like I must be really damn good at it because of the results I get. But to paraphrase an old, wistful lament, “So many great sales letters to write, so little time…”
So I hired out some of it to a good writer and when I got back the result, it had some flaws in it, in my view. Not perfect. Not like I would have done.
But you know what? It got done. And with a little tweaking on my part, it looked pretty good and got sent to the printer. Like today.
“A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.”
So do this:
1. Pick one thing you do that someone else could do.
2. Hire and train somebody to do it for you.
3. Go do what you’re especially good at – that only you can do.
4. Watch your business grow.
5. Rinse and Repeat.
