Slow Down to Speed Up?

A wise carpenter will measure twice, cut once.

Same with managing your marketing.

If you find yourself rushing from one thing to another, you’re probably wasting a lot of time.

Did you know that every shift in attention requires a twenty minute transition? Think about it. If you change activities every five minutes you’re probably not really fully engaged in any of them.

Here’s how to avoid mindless, frenetic activity.

Block out two hours at a time to really focus in on a worthwhile task. Close the door, put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign, turn off the phone, cell phone, email, IM – everything.

Focus on that one critical project that just needs you to sit down with it for a couple of hours. You know the one.

This technique is called “Time Blocking”. Just try it for two weeks. And let me know how it goes.
